From the Hull Index of Sep 29, 1899
Grandmother Trowbridge At Rest.
On Wednesday morning after a brief illness of but a few days, Mrs. Trowbridge, better known to Hull people as Grandmother Trowbridge, passed through the portals of death to the home beyond for which she was so amply prepared and so willing to enter.
Mrs. Trowbridge was born at Poughkeepsie, N. Y., on Jan. 6, 1831. She was married at Danbury Conn., in 1848. The young couple came west early to Chicago, thence to New Lisbon, Wis. where they resided until 1872 when they removed to Iowa in Sioux county, living on the Trowbridge
farm north of town. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Trowbridge, three sons and three daughters two of whom have preceded their mother in death. The husband and father passed away a little over ten years ago, leaving the widow who has just departed, to mourn his death and suffer the loss of the one who had been so long her companion and burden bearer. Since his death Mrs.
Trowbridge has made her home within the families of her children who live in this vicinity.
Her death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cyrus Hollister, with whom she has been making her home for some time past.
Speaking with the knowledge of one who at least had a friendly speaking acquaintance with the deceased, we know her to have been one of the kindliest and loveliest old ladies one seldom
meets. Everyone could so speak of her, and it must be a source of comfort to the children to know was so admired and so well liked.
