Sioux Center News, March 28, 1935

Mr. Peter J. Delperdang of Oyens died Monday evening of injuries he received when his runaway team dragged him beneath the disc. Delperdang's body was very badly slashed and cut by the blades of the disc. Mr. Deperdang lives near LeMars, and is survived by his wife and six children.

Hawarden Independent, April 4, 1935.

Peter Delperdang of Oyens, aged 47, was fatally injured March 25th in a most gruesome accident when he fell beneath the revolving knife edged blades of a disking machine while preparing a field for seeding. His body was dragged for a considerable distance beneath the heavy implement, the blades continually grinding away at all parts of the body. He had talked with friends about 5:30 and remarked he would make another round and then quit for the day. A little later when William Schnepf and Tovel Kloster saw the horses hitched to the disc and no driver they became suspicious and went to investigate. They discovered the unfortunate man, terribly mangled from head to foot. An ambulance was called and although they knew he had no chance to recover he was placed in the ambulance but he died before he reached the hospital in LeMars. He is survived by his wife and five children; his parents Mr. & Mrs. N. D. Delperdang of Remsen, and four brothers.
