Nellie Middle, 77, of Rock Valley died Sunday [July 10] in a Rock Valley hospital. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley. The Rev. Gordon Bloemendaal officiated. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Middle, the former Nellie Ver Mulm, was born June 6, 1906, in Rock Valley. She married Louis Middle on Feb. 6, 1930, in Rock Valley. He died on Nov. 20, 1966. She moved to a Rock Valley nursing home in 1973.

Survivors include four sons, George of Rock Valley, Herbert of Arlington, Va., Sidney of Yellville, Ark., and Lawrence of Indianola [Iowa]; three daughters, Mrs. William (Mathilda) Elwood of Fremont, Neb., Mrs. David (Wilma) Henderson of Central City [Iowa], and Sharon Hord of Wayne [Neb.]; two brothers, Jake Ver Mulm of Rock Valley and Robert Ver Mulm of Maurice; two sisters, Mrs. Hank (Jennie) Ver Sluys of Flandreau, S.D., and Mrs. Johanna Gerritsen of Rock Valley; 28 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

A similar, slightly shorter obit in the Rock Valley Bee (July 13) says that she died in the Hegg Memorial Hospital, Rock Valley, and spells her son's name Lawerance.
