PETER HOOGLAND
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, from the Doon Christian Reformed church for Peter Hoogland, 80, who died at the Rock Rapids hospital April 2 following a brief illness.
A brief service for the family was held at 1:00 p.m. at the family home in Doon. Rev. C. Van Der Plate officiated at the services.
Burial was made in Hope cemetery at Hull, under the direction of Co-operative Funeral Service of Sioux Center.
Mr. Hoogland was born in Oldebroek, Netherlands, December 29, 1877, the son of Aalt Hoogland and Aaltje Heerdink. He was married January 3, 1903, to Teunje Berghorst,and to this union nine children were born.
Mrs. Hoogland passed away In 1934.
Children surviving are: Alice (Mrs. John Hoff) of Sheldon, Gerrit of Luverne, Minn., Winnie (Mrs. John Van Den Over) of Sheldon, Edward of Annandale, Minn., and Hattie at home. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Lambert and Jacob of Sioux Center; and one sister, Mrs. Gerrit De Vries of Maurice.
