Hattie Hoogendoorn, 88, died Tuesday, November 12,1991, in Valley Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 25, 1903, in Ferwoude, Netherlands. She came to the United States and moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa, in 1913.
She married James J. Hoogendoorn on June l7, 1926, in Alvord, Iowa. They farmed in the Lester, Iowa, area until they retired in 1958, and moved to Rock Valley. They moved to Valley Manor Nursing Home in 1977. Her husband died April 23,11978.
Survivors include four sons: Gilbert of Sioux Falls, Alvin of Larchwood, Iowa, Marvin of Rock Valley, and James of Doon, Iowa; five daughters:
Mrs. Henrietta Vande Waerdt and Mrs. Tom (Marge) Van Tiiburg, both of Rock Valley, Mrs. Wilmer (Sylvia) Fluit of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Henry (Arlene) Hoefakker of Lynden, Wash., and Mrs. Leonard (Bernice) Klarenbeek of Alvord; 43 grandchildren; 79 greatgrandchildren;
and one great-greatgrandchild.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Netherlands Reformed Church, Rock Valley, with burial in Valley View Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley was in charge of arrangements.
