October 2, 1944 - January 17, 2012

Mrs. Janice Vande Voort, age 67, of Orange City, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at her rural farm home.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, January 24, at 1:30pm, at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. David Heilman will officiate. Interment will follow at the Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Monday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Janice Wilene was born on October 2, 1944, in Holland, Michigan, the daughter of Jerome and Wilma (Bylstra) Slenk. She was raised in Holland, where she attended the Christian school.

On October 6, 1966, she married George Vande Voort in Holland. They made their home in San Antonio and Dalhart, Texas, and in Eldora, Iowa. In July of 2003, they moved to rural Orange City.

"Jan" was a homemaker and an active farm wife. She enjoyed music and cooking.

She was currently a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church, but she had belonged to the Dalhart Nazarene Church, and the Park and First Wellsburg Christian Reformed Churches, as well as the Living Water Community Church in Orange City.

Survivors include her husband of more than 45 years; a daughter and her husband, Julie and Scott Haan, of Orange City; two sons and their wives, Matt and Shelly Vande Voort and Jim and Sarah Vande Voort, all of Orange City; eight grandchildren, Wendi Jo, Lane, Levi, Sandi Jo, Joeli, Luke, Jacob, and Dustin; her mother, Wilma LeFebre, of Holland; and four brothers and two sisters, John Slenk, of Portage, Michigan; Harry Slenk and Dave Slenk, both of Holland; Bonnie O’Conner, of Zeeland, Michigan; and Gretchen Ten Brink and Ted Slenk, both of Holland.
