MRS. JERRY RAAK
Mrs. Jerry Raak suffered a stroke Friday and .passed away the following Tuesday, April 17, at 9:25 pm. She had reached the age of 78 years.
The decedent was born in the Netherlands, and with her parents came to America at the age of two and a half years. The family settled at Pella, where
they lived for a year and a half, after which they came to Sioux County by covered wagon.
Mrs. Raak was the mother of 12 children, 2 of whom died in infancy. The children living are, Minnie (Mrs. John De Raad) of Kingsley, Rena (Mrs. Ring De Jager) of Orange City, Gerrit of Orange City, Jerry of Hospers, Elmer and Carl of Chicago, Paul of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Ray of Primghar. Ida (Mrs. Albert Popma) died 18 years ago, and Edward passed away 8 years ago. Her husband died in 1935.
She leaves a sister, Mrs. P. Van Gorp, 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Van Etten Funeral Home Friday afternoon with Dr. H. V. E. Stegeman officiating. Interment was made in the local
cemetery.
Paul Raak of Oklahoma City, Okla. was unable to be present at his mother's funeral. He was wounded in France on D-Day, and as a result, is afflicted with eye trouble. He has received an honorable discharge from the Army.
