Ben Winterfeld, 14, of Sioux Center, formerly of rural Ireton, died Friday, July 12, from injuries received in an accident involving a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle and a pickup truck between Ireton and Hawarden

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday July 15, at St. Lutherans Church in Ireton with Rev. Perry Schefelker officitatin. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton.

Ben was born Mary 26, 1982, in Hawarden, the son of Paul and Debora (Abbas) Winterfeld. He had completed eighth grade at Sioux Center Community School. He enjoyed mo-peds, four-wheelers, roller skating and in-line skating. He was active in Tae Kwan Do and liked to draw. He also liked animals, especially his dog, Ginger.

Survivors include his father, Paul Winterfeld of Ireton; his mother Debora Abbas of Sioux Center; a sister, Christina Winterfeld and her fiance Tracy of Ireton; a nephew, Brian; his grandparents, Julius and Joann Winterfeld of Ireton and Faye Abbas of Kanawha; and a great-grandmother, Edna Winterfeld of Hawarden.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo Abbas.
