JOHN VERSTEEG PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME THURSDAY MORNING.

John Versteeg who came to this vicinity with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. Versteeg about thirty years ago died at his home northwest of town on Thursday morning, June 15th. Mr. Versteeg had been a long and patient sufferer for some seventeen years with bowel trouble to which the best medical skill could give only temporary relief. During the last few years his condition seemed to grow more critical and his loss in flesh more perceptable.

The deceased was born at Pella, Iowa in 1880 and at the age of six he came with his parents to Orange City where he continued to reside until his death. In March 1910 Mr. Versteeg was united in marriage to Miss Nettie Bogaard who was also a resident of this vicinity. He is the father of two children, ages 4 and 2.

Besides his wife and two children he leaves to mourn their loss three brothers, Nick of Edgerton, Minn., Dick and Dingeman of Orange City, and four sisters, Mrs. S. Tinkelenburg of Edgerton, Minn., Mrs. W. Sterenburg, Mrs. P. De Cook, and Mrs. Van Marel, Orange City.

He was a member of the first Reformed Church. A loving father, a faithful husband and a kindly neighbor. The funeral was held from the First Reformed church in this city on Saturday, Rev. Weimers and McEwan officiating.
