Henry "Hank" Veurink, a lifelong resident of the Milaca, Minnesota, area went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 29, at the age of 80 years. He died peacefully at the St. Cloud Hospital following a heart attack and a nine-month battle with cancer.
Funeral services were Monday at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease [Minnesota] with the Rev. David Smit officiating.
Veurink was born in Milo Township [Mille Lacs County, Minn.] to John and Cornelia (Scheffer) Veurink on March 2, 1925. He attended Community Christian School in Pease of which he remained a booster all his life.
He was also a lifelong member of Pease Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed 57 years of marriage to Lorraine (Droogsma). They lived most of their married life on their dairy farm southwest of Milaca until moving into town in 2003. He was an avid sports fan both as a participant and a spectator. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed golfing and fishing with friends and family.
He is survived by his children, Vicki and Will Franken of Sioux Center, Carl and Carol Veurink of Milaca, Leanne and David Adkins of Eagan [Minn.] and David and Alison Veurink of Lansing, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Carol (Don) Droogsma of Milaca, Gerrit Veurink of Pease, Pete Hubers of Jenison, Michigan, and sister-in-law, Eleanor Veurink.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Hattie Veurink, Johanna (John) Kuperus and Jeanne (Jim) Soldin; and brother-in-law, Bill Hubers.
Memorials can go to the Community Christian School of Pease and the Christian Reformed World Relief.
