John H. DeWall,81,of Alcester died Monday evening, Jan 29 at Alcester. Funeral services were held Friday at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester. Burial services were held at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Alcester.
DeWall was born on Mar. 12 1891 at Ostfriesland, Germany. In 1907 he immigrated to the United State with his mother to Demster, SD. Later in 1918, he moved to Alcester and on June 20, 1923 was married to Johanna Eden. The couple farmed in the Alcester area until 1937 when they moved into town where DeWall worked at various other occupations. A serious accident in 1945 limited his activity.
DeWall is survived by his wife, Johanna; two sons, Glenn of Hawarden, and Arlen of Chicago; one daughter Muriel (Mrs. Elmer Trelber) of Bradenton, Florida; one brother, Harry of Sacramento, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Gunter Petershagen of Castlewood, SD., Eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one grandson.
