Mrs. Harriet A. Van Voorst, age 55, of Matlock died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1991 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley after being ill for four years.

Harriet Arlene was born Dec. 22, 1935 at Archer, the daughter of Arie F. and Harriet (Gesink) Noteboom. Her family moved to a farm near Alton when she was eight years old.

On May 2, 1958 she married Alfred Van Voorst at Orange City. They made their home in LeMars. He died in 1968 at Marcus. On July 13, 1969, she married Alex Richard Van Voorst at Merrill. They lived at Matlock most of their married life.

Mrs. Van Voorst had been a member of the Matlock Reformed Church. She was an avid bowler, participating in leagues at George and Sheldon.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Cleone and her husband James Kruse of George, and Cheri at home; a son, Ty, at home; grandson, Nathan Kruse; two sisters, Mrs. Augie (Frances) Faber of Delevan, Wis., and Mrs. Larry (Audrey) Kleinhesselink of Alton; a brother, Irwin Noteboom of Granville; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George with the Rev. Robert W. Lueck officiating. Interment was prior to the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Matlock, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.
