The little one-year old baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. Nic Steichen died last Monday night after but a few hours illness. The funeral was held from St. Mary's church Wednesday morning. The Democrat sympathizes with the parents in their sorrow.

Found additional information in the Sioux County Birth Index in book 3, page 17: Born to Nic Steichen and Katie Krantz a dau, Maggie in 1898. Nicholas and Catherine Krantz Steichen married June 1, 1897. This child's mother died in 1912 (see the obit of Catherine Steichen 1876-1912 for more details on the family).
