EVERT G. VERMEER
October 3, 1887----June 15, 1954
Mr. Evert G. Vermeer passed away Tuesday, June 15, 1954, at his home, at the age of 66 years. Mr. Vermeer had just returned from the Hospital at Rochester and it was there that his condition was reported serious.
He was united in marriage to Hermina Hoksbergen on Jan. 3, 1912 at Sioux Center. To this union were born the following children:
Priscilla, Mrs. S. W. Postma of Sheldon; Alice, Mrs. Edwin Sneller; Gerrit E.; Esther, Mrs. Loyd Popma; Margaret and Verlyn all of Sioux Center except Verlyn who is serving in the army at Korea. He is further survived by 14 grandchildren as well as the following brothers and sisters: Jake G.; Jennie, Mrs. Gerrit L. Vande Berg; Marie, Mrs. John Den Herder, all of Sioux Center and Gerrit and Elizabeth, Mrs. Herman Van Eldick, both of Rock Valley and Priscilla, Mrs. James Hollander, Sioux Center. One brother, Benjamin, preceded him in death as well as both his parents. Mr. Vermeer had spent all his life in this community and his passing is a loss to many of his friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, June 22, at the home and the First Reformed church of Sioux Center with Rev. P. A. De Jong officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Vander Ploeg’s Funeral Home of Sioux Center and burial was in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery.
