HENRY VLASTUIN, age 64, of Worthington, died Sunday, August 10, 1997 at the Worthington Regional Hospital. He was born October 27, 1932 in Doon, Iowa; to his parents John and Elizabeth (Van Grootheest) Viastuin. Henry graduated from Doon High School in Doon, Iowa; Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa; and graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He began his teaching career during that time and received his Masters Degree in School Administration at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri.
Henry was united in marriage to Emma Van Bochove on June 23, 1967 in Rock Valley, Iowa. They made their home in Worthington where he was an elementary teacher and later a learning disability teacher.
He was a member of the Heritage Reformed Church in Hull, Iowa. Henry was also a member of the MEA and the NEA teaching organizations. He liked to garden and enjoyed nature and fishing.
Henry is survived by his wife, Emma Vlastuin, Worthington; son, Dean Vlastuin, Marshall; daughters and son-in-law, Kristi Vlastuin, Mankato; Jill and Brian Koopman, Fulda; 3 step grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerrit and Ramona Vlastuin, Luverne; Fred and Ann Vlastuin, Rock Valley, Iowa; Elmer and Cornelia Vlastuin, Jenison, Michigan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Henrietta De Bruin, Rock Valley, Iowa; Tillie and John Blom, Rock Valley. Iowa, Jeanette and John Van Surksum, Doon, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
