Mrs. Wilma Vink, age 91, of Hull, passed away on Sunday, August 28, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
There will be a funeral service on Saturday, September 3, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Verlyn Boone and Missionary Stephen Hinton will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.
Wilma was born on February 8, 1914, in rural Hull, the daughter of Feite and Winnie (Lokhorst) Pollema. She was raised at Hull, where she attended a country school.
On January 27, 1937, she married George Vink at Hull. They farmed just west of Hull until 1974, when they retired into Hull. They became residents of the Homestead Cooperative there in 1996. George passed away on April 4, 2001, in Rock Valley, after more than 64 years of marriage.
Mrs. Vink then became a resident of the Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community in Orange City. In July of 2002, she transferred to the Pleasant Acres Care Center.
She lived in the Hull area all her life. She was a homemaker and also a nurse's aid at Pleasant Acres for ten years.
Wilma was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she belonged to the Martha Circle.
She enjoyed visiting, reading, embroidering, and crocheting, especially around hangers. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who was always helping family members, as well as others.
Survivors include her three daughters and their husbands, Geneva and Melvin Van Peursem, of Orange City; Wanda and Ivan Van Der Schaaf, of Center, Texas; and Dorothy and John Van Zyl, of Cedar Lake, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Gaylene, and her husband, Jeffrey Christensen; Daniel Van Peursem, and his wife, Jennifer; Randall Van Peursem; Ila, and her husband, Donald Wheeler; Wynae, and her husband, Stephen Hinton; Wanita, and her husband, John Shofner; Iletha, and her husband, Joey Fountain; Darla, and her husband, Harrison Burgett; and David Van Zyl, and his wife, Pamela; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Tena Pollema, of Hull; and many nephews and nieces.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Simon, Peter, Sibolt, and John William Pollema; and four sisters, Anna Schuurman, Gertrude Van Sloten, Winnie Vollink, and Alice Steenhoven.
