Sioux Center News, May 5, 1960

Funeral services were held Saturday in the Alton Reformed Church for Mrs. George Duistermars, 65, formerly of the Orange City vicinity, who passed away at the St. Joseph hospital in Sioux City on Wednesday evening, following a brief illness of one day.

Rev. R. Meyer officated and burial was made in the Orange City cemetery under the direction of Kraai and Van Etten.

Mrs. Duistermars, nee Bertha Vander Schaaf, was born February 13, 1895, the daughter of Wiebe Vander Schaaf and Annie Sipma-Vander Schaaf. She was raised on a farm in Newkirk and had been married to Geroge Duistermars about 40 years. She had lived in the Orange City vicinity until 14 years ago when they moved to Sioux City.

Survivors include her husband, four sisters, Maggie, Mrs. Martin Vande Velde, of Sheldon; Ella, Mrs. Reuben De Valois; Lillian, Mrs. Wm. Top, both of Orange City; Kathryn, Mrs. Cornie Van Surksum, of Alton; one brother, Stuart Vander Schaaf of Spirit Lake.

Two brothers preceded her in death, Louis and Joe Vander Schaaf.
