Thomas J. De Jong
Thomas J. De Jong, 69, died Fri.. day, Aug. 17 in the Orange City Municipal Hospital after a brief illness.
Services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Reformed Church. Rev. Cecil Martens, Rev. Frank Snuttjčr and Rev. Kenneth Dykstra officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.
Mr. De Jong was born July 18,1915 in Perkins, the son of John T. and Nellie (Druyvesteyn) De Jong.
On March 6, 1936 he married Ruth Dykstra in Orange City. Tom was a real estate broker and lived his
entire life in the surrounding area, moving to Orange City in 1961.
Mr. De Jong was a member of the First Reformed Church, a World War II veteran and involved in many community activities.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Terry of Rockville, Md.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Judie) Mouw of Carbondale, Ill., and Mrs. Rod (Pat) Muilenburg of Storm Lake; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Frank W. of Omaha, Ivan of LeMars, Earl of Orange City and one sister, Mrs. Adriana Seibel of Sioux City.
