Ted De Jong
Ted De Jong, 76, of Ireton, died January 9 at the Orange City hospital.
Services were January 12 at Ireton Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Wybren Oord officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton.
DeJong was born September 22, 1913, near Ireton and attended Ireton Christian School. He married Geraldine Hofmeyer December 29, 1935, in Ireton. The couple farmed near Ireton from 1935 until 1979, when they retired and moved into Ireton.
DeJong was a lifetime member of Ireton Christian Reformed Church and was a consistory member of the church. He was also a past board member of both Ireton Christian School and Dordt College in Sioux Center.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Alfred B. and his wife, Wilma, of Ireton; three daughters and their husbands, Arlene and Anthony Dekkers of Hawarden; Jeannette and Marion Groenendyk of Eastmanville, Michigan and Thelma and Howard Bomgaars of Maurice; two brothers, Henry F. of Orange City and Alfred Jr of Ireton; three sisters, Rena DeBoer of Orange City, Ann Mulder of Ireton and Esther, Mae Bolkema of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 10 gandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Jennie DeJager De Jong; a sister, Rose Mulder; brother, Bernard; and three grandchildren, Gaylene Dekkers, Arnold Dekkers and David DeJong.
