Obituary: Hawarden, Iowa- Rocille Benson, 96, of Hawarden, died Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Associated Church with Rev. Dan Lozer officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton. Arrangements: Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Rocille was born October 25, 1915 in Preston Township, Plymouth County, near Craig, Iowa, the daughter of John G. and Martha (Rickert) Rohlfs. After graduating high school, Rocille obtained her nursing degree in LeMars, Iowa. Rocille married Marvin Howard Benson on March 7, 1941 at Rawlins, Wyoming and together they lived on a farm east of Hawarden. Rocille was a nurse at the Hawarden Community Hospital from 1938 until 1977, and was head nurse for many of those years. Rocille and Howard retired and moved to Hawarden in 1974.
Howard died on September 7, 1995. Rocille moved to Mica Hill Estates soon after it opened and to Hillcrest Health Care Center on December 31, 2008.
Surviving relatives include her son, Paul and his wife Sherry Benson of Hawarden; grandsons, Joe Benson of Ireton and Ted and his wife Carrie Benson of Stevensville, Montana; and two sisters, Esther Swenson of Stanley, Wisconsin and Bernice Warner of Hudson, South Dakota.
Rocille was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; an infant brother; a brother, Lawrence Rohlfs; and two sisters, Unithe Talsma and Irene Bohlken.
