August 6, 1925 - November 2, 2011
Mrs. Marie Keizer, age 86, of Alton, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, November 7, at 11:00am, at the Alton Reformed Church in Alton. The Rev. Roger Voskuil will officiate. Interment will be at the Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton on Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be the hour before the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Marie Lillian was born on August 6, 1925, in Dickinson, North Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Alice (Prideaux) Aberson. She was raised in North Dakota, but often visited relatives in northwest Iowa. For a short time, she worked in Le Mars at Pills Department Store and the J. C. Penny store.
On September 3, 1946, she married Gerald John Keizer in Alton. They made their home in Alton, where she was a homemaker. Gerald passed away on July 10, 2009, in Remsen.
In August of this year, Mrs. Keizer became a resident of Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton.
She was a member of the Alton Reformed Church and the Eastern Star, and she was a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed reading and playing cards, and she was known as a good cook.
Marie would do anything for her family and was especially interested in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Henry Lee and Ruth (Reicks) Keizer, of Lexington, Kentucky; a daughter and her husband, Peggy Ann and John Hammer, of Moville; a daughter-in-law, Pam Denzer, of Minnetonka, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Keizer, and his wife, Jennifer; David Keizer; Katie Keizer; Alaina Keizer; Brandon Keizer, and his wife, April; Alyssa Hammer; and Jada Hammer; a step-grandson, Cassey Hoeschen; five great-grandchildren; and a sister and her husband, Ann and Rex Cook, of Dickinson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas James Keizer; and a sister, Jean Bratten.
