PETER A. DE JONG
After an illness of a year Peter A. De Jong, 52, of Hospers passed away at the Grossmann hospital early Friday morning. Death was caused by a kidney infection. Mr. De Jong was born on the farm 1 mile and ¼ north of 0. C., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven De Jong and was reared there. He received his education at the O.C. schools and was an Academy graduate. He married Elsie De Roo of Newkirk and they were the parents of 3 boys and 3 girls: Earl of 0. C., Jacob and Ronald at home; Elizabeth, Mrs. Kenneth Den Herder of Sioux Center; Joan a registered nurse and Ruth at; home. There are 4 grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife and children are one sister Nellie, Mrs. E. Meier of Coleridge, Neb.; and a brother Bernard and one sister, Earline at home with their parents. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Ref. Church of 0. C. with the Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was in the O.C. cemetery with the Van
Etten Funeral Service in charge.
Children and the grandchildren helped Mrs. L. Rens observe her 85th birthday Monday, Aug. 22. Mrs. Rens is in good health and is able to do her own housework most of the time.
