Nelson De Jong. 87, of Orange City, died Friday, Apri1 5, 1991 at the Orange City nursing home.
Services were Monday at Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Donald De Glopper. the Rev. Garret Docter and the Rev. Lloyd De Jong officiating. Burial followed in Westlawn Cemetery in Orange City.
De Jong was born November 26, 1903, on a farm southwest of Orange City. He married Ada Frances Schuller on December 30, 1927. in Orange City. They farmed northeast of the city until 1965, when -they retired into town. Dc Jong had been a patient at area hospitals and nursing homes for the past year.
He was a member of Trinity Reformed Church, where he had served as a Sunday-school teacher for several years. He had been a choir member in past years. He had been on the boards of Pioneer Memorial Home and Westlawn Cemetery and was clerk of Holland Township. He participated in volunteer activities in Orange City and the su1rounding area.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Loraine and Leonard Krommendyk of Orange City, Marlys and Stanley Frerichs of Le Mars and Carolyn Richter of Gainesville, Florida; a sister, Greta Eason, of Alton; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-gandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Gerrit Raymond and a sister, Nellie; and a granddaughter.
