MRS. LUCY KUYPER

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, January 8th at the First Reformed Church in Boyden for Mrs. Lucy Kuyper who passed away suddenly Tues. afternoon at 3:15 p.m. of a heart attack at the home of her brother Bert Van't Hul. She was helping her brother move to a farm near Beaver Creek, Minn. The Rev. Henri Steunenberg officiated the funeral services with the Rev. Van Deelen of Hull assisting. Internment was made at the family plot in the Boyden cemetery. Mrs. Ray Smit and Mrs. Larry Salmon sang "Beyond the Sunset" with the girls quartette singing "Never Alone." Mrs. L. V. Grooters was organist.

Mrs. Lucy Kuyper nee Lucy Van't Hul was born May 8, 1919, on a farm near Rock Valley and passed away Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 5th, 1954, at the age of 34 years, 7 months and 28 days. Mrs. Kuyper lived in Sioux County all her life and received her schooling at Rock Valley. She was united in marriage to Robert Raymond Kuyper June 25th, 1939. Her husband preceded her in death by giving his life for his country in military service on May 8, 1945. He was 27 at the time of his death.

Since losing her husband, she lived for their two sons Joel age 11 and Ronald Lee age 10. Besides her two sons survivors are her parents Mr. and Mrs. Gerben Van't Hul, four brothers, Burt, Edward, Herman, Gerben and Albert all of Hull, and three sisters: 'Alice,' Mrs. Frank Calsbeek of Gladbrook, Iowa; 'Angeline,' Mrs. Bernard Vander Griend of Boyden, and 'Josamine,' Mrs. Harold Velgersdyk of Hull. She is also survived by her husband's mother Mrs. Josie Kuyper and family and grandchildren as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Kuyper was a wonderful mother and a loving friend. All who knew her will miss her. She was a faithful member of the First Reformed church in Boyden.

Pallbearers were six legioniers, Tony Slothouber, Lorraine Grooters, Peter Vis, Larry Salmon, Logan Vanden Brink and Chester Sitter.

We miss you now our hearts are sore,
as time goes bye, we'll miss you more;
your loving smile, your gentle face.
"Mama" no one can fill your vacant place.
The children--Joel and Ronnie Kuyper.
