Arthur J. De Jong, 78, of Everson, Washington, died Wednesday, December 28,
Graveside services were Tuesday at Nooksack Cemetery followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church, Nooksack, with the Rev. Chuck Kleinhesselink officiating.
De Jong was born July 12, 1927, in Boyden, the son of Joe and Elizabeth (Vande Garde) Dc Jong. He married Margaret Dooyema in Edgerton, Minnesota, on July 12, 1947. The couple and their family
moved to the Sumas area from Harrisburg, South Dakota, in 1960 and operated a dairy farm.
He was a member of Nooksack Valley Reformed Church and the Washington State Dairy Federation.
Survivors include his wife; children, Reatha (Bert) Cammack of Bellingham, Jay (Debbie) De Jong of Sumas, Darlene (John) Dickinson of Lyndén, Cammy (Steve) Roosma and Arlan (Marcy) De Jong of Sumas; 13 grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Dutch (Gerard) and Jim; and sisters, Cornelia Osterkamp and Geneva Bennet.
