John H. Ervin, 80, of Hawarden, died Tuesday, November 4 in a nursing home at Alcester, SD.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden. The Rev. Marian Bloodworth officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. There was a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ervin was born April 17, 1900 at Richland, SD.

He married Sarah Lansdown, Dec. 17, 1922 at Hawarden. He farmed in the Hawarden area 19 years, moving to town in 1941. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for 13 years, and part-time at area farms after his retirment.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include the widow; one son, Ken Orlyn of South Sioux City; three daughters, Mrs. Dean (Nona Ruth) Wilson of Montrose, SD., Mrs. Marlin (Neva) Schwiesow of Sylmar, Calif., and Mrs. R. D. (Yvonne) Koob of Moorhead, Minn.; 18 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
