Hawarden Independent, November 8, 1934

Mrs. F. B. Wallace, a long time resident of this city, passed away at her home at 6:30 Tuesday morning. While Mrs. Wallace was seriously ill for only about three weeks she had been in failing health for some time.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in this city at 2 o'clock this afternoon with Rev. Robt. H. Forrester in charge. Interment will be made in the Alcester cemetery.

Nora McCormick was born at Geneva, IL, Sept. 26, 1868, and passed away Nov. 6, 1934, having attained the age of 66 years, 1 month and 10 days. She came west with her parents when a girl and settled near Sioux Falls and 59 years ago the family homesteaded on a farm in Union county near Alcester. She was united in marriage with Frank B. Wallace at Alcester in 1886. After her marriage she lived on a farm north of Alcester until 1892 when she moved to Kimball, SD, where she and her husband homesteaded. They made their home near Kimball for four years when they came to Hawarden, living in this city until 1899 when they moved onto a farm north of town. In 1908 they again returned to Hawarden and she made her home in this city continuously since that time. She was a member of the local Methodist church having united with this church about 30 years ago. She was also a member of the Woodmen Circle and the Royal Neighbor lodge. She is survived by her husband and one son, Frank D. Wallace, and four grandchildren, Waldo, Just, Albert and Margaret Wallace. She also leaves five brothers, John McCormick, Hawarden, Charlie, Gary, SD, Ray, Motley, MN; Arthur, Vermillion, SD; Bert, Alcester; and three sisters, Mrs. Nels Charbbonno, Hawarden; Mrs. Edith Teril, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Mrs. Ethel Davis, who resided in Montana.

Mrs. Wallace was quiet and unassuming and her interests were in her home where the needs of her loved ones were her first thoughts. She was a kind neighbor and friend and her passing will be mourned by many outside of the family circle. She will be greatly missed by her husband whose companion she has been for almost fifty years and sincere sympathy is extended to him and the other members of her family in their hour of sorrow.
