February 2, 1915 - October 13, 2011
Mrs. "Dena" Blankespoor, age 96, of Hull passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2011, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, October 17, at 10:30am, at the Hull Protestant Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. James Laning will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Berdena was born on February 2, 1915, on a farm south of Rock Rapids, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie (Oostenink) De Boer.

On December 21, 1934, she married Henry John Blankespoor at Carmel. They farmed by Doon and then by George. In 1986, they moved into Hull. He passed away on December 30, 1994, in Sioux Center.

In May of 2005, Dena became a resident of Pleasant Acres.

She was a charter member of the Hull Protestant Reformed Church.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, James and Wilma Blankespoor, of Doon; and Robert and Geraldine Blankespoor, of George; a daughter and her husband, Marcella and Alvin Kooiker, of Boyden; 23 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, James Blankespoor, of Randolph, Wisconsin; and Martin Raak, of Orange City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Blankespoor; a daughter, Marjorie Blankespoor; a great-granddaughter, Erica Rose Fykstra; four brothers and their wives, Jerry and Sadie De Boer, Frank and Deana De Boer, Dick and Anna De Boer, and John and Dorothy De Boer; six sisters and their husbands, Gertrude and Henry Vander Vliet, Hermina and Henry Bartels, Jeanette and John Wesselink, Jacoba Raak, Henrietta and Albert Moss, and Geneva and Bernard Huisman; and two-sisters-in-law, Julia Blankespoor and Nellie Blankespoor.
