Dillon Hooyer, age 12, son of Paul and Maria Hooyer of Sioux Center, IA died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from injuries sustained in a all-terrain vehicle accident.A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10:30AM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church with Father Douglas Klein officiating. Interment will follow the funeral mass in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center has been entrusted with arrangements.
Dillon Jon Hooyer was born February 16, 1999 to Tara and Michael Koele in Sioux Center, IA. He grew up in Hull and attended Boyden-Hull Community School until 2007. He joined the Paul & Maria Hooyer family on December 20, 2007. The Hooyer family adopted, Dillon in August of 2008. He attended the Sioux Center Community School, and was currently a 7th grader. Dillon was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church.
Dillon died on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 due to injuries from a 4-wheeler accident on the family farm.
Dillon loved every aspect of farm life, including the care of all kinds of animals and working with the machinery. He was always eager to show people the things he knew. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, football, golf, and playing cards. His passion was being with people, and family was central in his life.
Among those who survive and gratefully shared his life are his adoptive parents, Paul & Maria Hooyer of Sioux Center, and their family: Mitchell, Heather & Sydney; his father, Michael Koele and friend, Leann Lewis, of Hull and their family: Christian, Justin, Jayden & Jessica; and his birth mother, Tara Platt of Spokane, WA. He is also survived by grandparents: Lois Hooyer of Sioux Center, Mary Trudeau of Alcester, SD, Cliff & Marlys Koele of Hull, Sandy Koele of Hull, Mike & Barb Herbig of Michigan and Butch & Janet Schroeder of Idaho. He is cherished by many other relatives and friends.
