Bernard Lee Evenhuis, 59, formerly of Hawarden, died Aug. 18, 2002 at Olympia, Wash. A memorial service was held at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel on Aug. 24, at Lacey, Wash.

Bernard Evenhuis was born Nov. 18, 1942 to Lawrence and Mildred Evenhuis in Chicago, Il., and grew up in Hawarden. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Biology from South Dakota State University and a Master's Degree in Fisheries Biology from the University of North Dakota. He worked for various fishery departments and commissions in South Dakota, North Dakota, Kentucky, Tennessee and Washington before retiring and opening Lee's Clubhouse, a custom golf club business. He worked part-time for Panorama and Delphi Gold Courses.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; mother, Mildred; brother Glenn; three sons, Russel, Jason and Timothy, daughter, Teressa; and three granddaughters.
