Peter Kraus, aged nineteen, son of John Kraus living two miles north of town, died last Thursday, after a long and suffering illness of dropsy and lung fever. The funeral was held Saturday, when the remains were interred in the Granville Catholic Cemetery, Rev. Father Stromberg officiating.
(From an account in the St. Joseph Church book of Granville, John Kraus, Sr. was born in Gazingen Luxemburg in 23 May 1840 and came to America in 1862 and settled at St. Donatus IA. Married Margaret Gehl born 1842. Children born to them were John M., John Peter, Peter, Margaret, Jacob and Mary.)
