From the Alton Democrat of Nov 13, 1897 Maurice Musings.
Henry aged sixteen years, the son of Gerrit Brink, died Sunday night last of diabetes and blood poisoning. He was sick about a week but was not considered dangerouly ill until about twenty four hours before his death. the funeral services were held Tuesday at the Holland church,, Rev. Straks officiating, and was very largely attended. The bereaved parents and family have the sympathy of the community in their affliction.

Father Gerrit Brink born 12 Oct 1858 died 15 May 1939 Sherman Tsp Cem. Maurice, mother Johanna Pennings 1861-1937. Other children were Wilhemina 1885, John A. 1890, Gertrude 1895, Henry 1899, Cynthia 1901, and Johanna 1903. In the obit of father Gerrit it was mentioned - preceded him in death were 4 infant children and three others.)
