Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, July 9, for Peter Katje at 1 o'clock at the Sip Eisma home and at 2 o'clock at the Christian Reformed church with Rev. Paul Ouwinga officiating. Burial was in the local cenetery. Pall bearers were grandson.

Mr. Katje died Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock at the Orange City hospital where he had been a patient for several months. He was a cancer sufferer following an operation 16 months ago.

He was born July 2, 1871 at St.Annaparochhie the Netherlands When 19 he came to the United States. He married Jennie Keiser at Spring Valley, N.Y. and to this union two daughters were born Mrs. Agnes De Groot of Maurice and Mrs.Sip Eisma of Ireton. His wife died after 17 years of married life. He married Saide Lanting at Little Falls, NJ., and to this marriage a daugther, Mrs. Charles Westra of Ireton was born

After 35 years of Married life his wife died and he later married Mrs. Hilda Wilkins of Bemis SD. who was a mother of eight children. She died four years ago, after 15 years of married life.

Mr. Katje came from a family of 13 children. A brother and two sisters survive. Mr. Katje was a resident here 41 years, being a farmer, in his early life. He later operated a cream & produce station in Ireton.
