Former Hawarden Resident Passed Away Last Friday
Roy A. Hedden, eldest son of C. A. Hedden of Hawarden and a resident of this city in this youth died at Wellington,. Kan., last Friday, April 5th, according to word received by relatives here. Particulars concerning his
death .-have not been obtained nor had his Hawarden relatives been apprised of any illness. Funeral services were held at Wellington and interment was made there. His father and sister here were unable to attend the funeral.
Roy Allen Hedden was thorn at Parkershurg, Iowa, June 14, 1884, so was not yet 56 years of age at the time of his death. He came to Hawarden with
his parents in 1892 and grew to young manhood in this city. He attended the Hawarden schools and for a considerable number of years was employed
by W.A. King in his confectionery store and in other stores of a similar type in this city. He left Hawarden about 33 years ago,'locating in Kansas, and for many years has resided at Wellington where he operated a cafe for a number of years but more recently has been in the employ of the Kansas State Highway Commission.
After leaving Hawarden he was united in marriage with Miss Nina Morgan at Harper, Kan. Four children were born to them, who with the widow
survive. The children are Mrs. Elizabeth Holdoway of Washington, D. C., and Junior, Dorothy and Kenneth Hedden, all of Wellington. He is also survived by his father, C. A.
Hedden of Hawarden; two brothers, Ward Hedden of Rolling Prairie, Ind., and Frank Hedden of Enning, S. D.; and three sistez-s, Mrs. Ward Estes of Enning, S. D., Mrs. Wm. Younie of
Hawarden, and Mrs. Julius Finch of Rapid City, S. D. News of Mr. Hedden's death came as a distinct shock to his father and sister here as well as to his many old Hawarden friends. He had only visited Hawarden at rare intervals since
leaving here in early young manhood, his last visit being about five years ago.
