Henry Heemstra, 89, of Sioux Center died Friday in a hospital in Sioux Center.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Central Reformed Church. The Rev. Dennis Wilcox officiated. Burial was in the West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City. Visitation was from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
Mr. Heemstra was born Aug. 8, 1894, in Orange City. He married Gertrude DeHaan Jan. 1, 1917, at
Orange City. She died Aug. 11, 1941.
He married Jennie Boone April 1,1943, at Hospers. He farmed in the Sioux County area and also worked at an elevator in Sheldon.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Albert of Granville; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Angie) Elgersma of Sanborn, and Mrs. Boyd (Lois) Ford of Tempe, Ariz.; three stepsons, Lester and Don Brommer, both of Sioux Center and James Brommer of Mountain View, Calif.; one stepdaughter,
Mrs. Grath (Thelma) Madsen of Sheldon; two brothers, Cy of Sioux Center and Albert of Orange City; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 25 stepgreat-grandchildren.
