Geretta Ekdom, the daughter of Gerrit and Annie (Vellinga) Hofmeyer, was born on May 5, 1907 at Orange City, Iowa and died in faith on April 23, 1988 in the Orange City Hospital at the age of 80 years.
She moved with her parents to Ireton as a young girl and had made her home in Ireton for most of her life. On February 10, 1929 she was united in marriage to Cornelius S. Ekdom at Ireton.
She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church. Cornelius preceded her in death on March 13, 1978.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Freeman (Marjorie) Faber of Ireton; three sons, Gerald C. of San Diego, California, John R. of Cedar Springs, Michigan, and Stanley T. of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Ted (Geraldine) DeJong of Ireton; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
