Dick Freriks died at the Grossmann Hospital, December 11, after an illness of six weeks. He had been suffering from a heart ailment for a number of years, but had been active in his work until this time.Dick Freriks was born on a farm near Orange City on June 26, 1886, the son of Dick and Mary Freriks. He grew up in this vicinity, and farmed most of this life in Sioux County.
Surviving are his wife, the former Theresa Vellinga, eight children. The children are, Donald of Alton, Mae(Mrs. Wilber Mouw) of Holland Mich., Margaret( Mrs.John Bloemendaal) of Hospers, Helen( Mrs. Randall Stover) of Hospers, William of Alton, Vernon of Alton andf Robert and Norma Jean at home. Also surviving are five sisters and three brothers. He was a member of the Reformed Church of Alton and the funeral was held ther Tuesday afternoon, December 16, with Rev. H. Hesselink officiating. Burial was in the Orange City cemetery.
Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Freriks of Washta, Iowa. Miss Dorothy Freriks of Cherokee, William Freriks of Sioux City, Mrs. Neal De Vries of Momtrose,SD., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mulder of Elkton, SD. and Mr. and Mrs. John Reinders of Plover.
