Death of Mrs. M. L. Miller
Mother of Mrs. R. E. Metcalf passed away Sunday at Grinnell
Mrs. R. E. Metcalf received the sad message Sunday that her mother, Mrs. M. L. Miller, had passed away suddenly that morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Henely at Grinnell, IA, from heart trouble. Mrs. Miller suffered a fractured hip in December but she was making a satisfactory recovery from the injury. About a week before her death she suffered a slight illness but it was not considered as serious and although she was rather frail her death was unexpected. She would have been 84 years old had she lived until March 20th. Mrs. Metcalf left Monday afternoon for Grinnell to be present at the funeral which was held there Tursday afternoon. The remains were taken to Oxford, IA the old home, for burial. Besides Mrs. Metcalf and Mrs. Henely she is survivied by two sons, Judge Jesse Miller and Oliver H. Miller of Des Moines. Mrs. Miller's death comes as a shock to her daughter, Mrs. Metcalv, especially so as she had planned to go to Grinnell Wednesday to visit her. Mrs. Miller was quite well known to many Hawarden people, having made her home with her daughter here at various time during the past few years.
