Margret 'Greta' Miller , 91, of Rock Valley died Sunday, February 27, 1994 at the Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.
Services will be held today at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Ronald Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Valley View cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, with the family present 7:30-8:30p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Miller, the former Margret Hamann, was born March 11, 1902 in Lagerdorf, Germany, the daughter of Wilhelma and Ida Lane Hamann. She attended school in Germany and rural school in Plato Township, Sioux county, IA. She married Ernest Miller Feb. 14, 1923, at Peace Lutheran Church, south of Rock Valley. The couple farmed southwest of Rock Valley for 37 years, retiring into Rock Valley in 1959. He died June 28, 1993, and she moved into the Fellowship Village Nursing Home at Inwood Dec. 10, 1993.
Mrs. Miller was a past member of the Ladies Aid at Peace Lutheran Church, United Methodist Women at the Pioneer United Methodist Church and Plato and Garfield Townships Garden Club.
Survivors include a son, Donald E. Miller and his wife, Jospehine of Rock Valley: a daughter, Betty J. De Boer and her husband, Gerrit of Sibley; a brother, Karl Hamann of Rock Valley and Minnie Junge of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Vicki, Gary, Randy and Lori DeBoer, and Keith and Jeraldene Miller; and five great granchildren, Wendy DeBoer, Kyle Miller Gray, and Spencer, Jordon and Brandon Miller.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha and Ann; and five brothers, Max, Bill, Henry, Theodore and Fritz.
