Sharon (Wagenaar) Bomgaars, 46, Jackson, Miss. died on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at her home after a three-year battle illness of ovarian cancer.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 4:00 p.m. at Morris Heights Baptist Church, Clinton, follow by a graveside service at the Clinton Cemetery.
Sharon grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa, the fourth of eight children. She married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Bomgaars at age 19. Five years later they moved to Mississippi with their two young boys so Dennis could attend Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson. Two more children were born, and a committed stay-at-home mom, she homeschooled all four children throu high school.
Sharon was an avid journalist, birdwatcher and lover of God’s creation. As an active member of Providence Prebyterian Church she taught a 4-5 year-old Sunday school class for the past 12 years and with her husband taught a Wednesday lst-2nd grade class for the past years. She had a special place in her heart for children and was dearly loved by children and adults alike:
Survivors include her husband Dennis who is Mt. Salus Christian School business manager; three sons, Micah Bomgaars and his wife Carolyn, Joel Bomgaars and his wife Rachel, and Daniel Bomgaars; a daughter, Christina Bomgaars; her parents, Bill and Priscilla Wagenaar of Sheldon; four brothers and their wives, Paul and Patty Wagenaar of Bellingham, Wash., Mark and Luann Wagenaar of Lynden, Wash. and Dean and Glenda Wagenaar of Sunnyside, Wash., and John and Lynae Wagenaar of Alton; two sisters, Joanna Wagenaar and Donna and her husband Phil Spoelstra, all of Lynden, Wash.; parents-in-law, Alfred and Delores Bomgaars of Orange City; a brother-in-law, Leon Bomgaars and his wife Tresa and a sister-in-law and her husband, Bonnie and Barry Stewart, all of Loveland, Colo.; and eight nephews and 13 nieces.
