The people of Ireton and vicinity extend their deepest sympathy to Mr. & Mrs. Will Brown in the loss of their four year old daughter, Hazel, whose death occurred in a Sioux City hospital Monday evening from peritonitis. The child was taken sick on Friday and by Saturday evening her condition had become so serious that her parents took her to Sioux City that night taking the early morning train at Craig, Sunday, and she was operated upon at one of the hospitals there Sunday morning. The operation disclosed that her condition was very critical as gangreen had started in the appendix and but slight hope was held out for her recovery although she lingered until Monday evening in a losing battle against the infection. The little body was brought back to Ireton Tuesday afternoon and taken to the family home, northeast of town, where funeral services were conducted today by Rev. H. A. French, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Her death is a sad blow to her parents who have fairly idolized her as she has been always uppermost in their throughts since the death of their other baby daughter a little more than a year ago. This estimable couple seems to be having more than their share of grief and they have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
