Ireton, IA - Bernhard C. Borchers, 80, a retired farmer, died at his home near here last Thursday night after an illness of two months.

He was born August 2, 1872, at Monee, Ill. He had farmed in Plymouth county and was a well known cattle raiser for more than 42 years. He married Minnie Siebens February 29, 1899. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1949.

He was a charter member of St. John's American Lutheran Church in Preston Township in Plymouth County. He did much work in organizing this church and held various offices in prior years. He was a member of the school board and of the township board for about 25 years. For about 30 years he was an agent for the German Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Plymouth County.

Survivors in addition to the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Charles Moeller and Mrs. Richard Stuckenbruck; both of Sioux Center; two sons, Louis and William, both of Ireton; two brothers, William of LeMars and John of Akron; one sister, Mrs. Charles Mammen, of LeMars; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two sons, one as a child and Eilert, three sisters, and three brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the American Lutheran Church in Preston Township with Rev. Henry Dirks officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
