January 20, 1931 - October 25, 2010
Mr. Glen Vander Zwaag, age 79, of Hull, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2010, at the Keelson Harbour Assisted Living Community in Spirit Lake.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, October 28, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Verlyn Boone will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Vander Zwaag residence, 1903 Division Street, Hull. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Glen Truman was born on January 20, 1931, in rural Orange City, the son of William and Henrietta (Huygens) Vander Zwaag. He was raised in rural Orange City, where he attended a country school and the Newkirk School.
On August 30, 1950, he married Elvina Eileen Van Oort in Newkirk. She passed away on September 25, 1956, in Orange City.

On September 6, 1958, he married Eleanor Gail Rockhill in Larchwood. They made their home at Hull until recently, when they moved to Spirit Lake.

Mr. Vander Zwaag was an International Harvester Implement dealer from 1949 to 1976, and then he farmed. He was a member of the First Reformed Church, where he served as an elder on the consistory. He also belonged to the Hull Kiwanis.

Glen enjoyed camping, traveling, snow skiing, golfing, having coffee with friends, watching basketball games, and giving rides on his antique tractors. He also built his own M-G sports car and did wrought iron work in his shop.
He loved spending time with his family, especially the "Grands".

Survivors include his wife of more than 52 years, Gail; five daughters and their husbands, Yvonne and Robert Blohm, of Reinbeck; Lora and Harry Vander Pol, of Hospers; Cindy and Mark Warntjes, of Boyden; Lisa and Rodney Bakker, of Spirit Lake; and Amanda and Justin Crane, of Kansas City, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Leslie, and her husband, Rob Michael; John Blohm, and his wife, Jessie; Kyle Blohm, and his wife, Megan; Matthew Vander Pol, and his wife, Terri; Brooke, and her husband, Adam Brinkmeier; Brittney, and her husband, David Meyer; Taylor Warntjes, and his wife, Heather; Jordan Warntjes, and his fiancée, Michelle De Haan; Blake Warntjes; Sheila Bakker; Andrea Bakker; Danielle Bakker; Talan Crane; and Landon Crane; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Claude and Betty Vander Zwaag, of Orange City; a sister and her husband, Judy and Cliff Van Schepen, of Hull; a sister-in-law, Harriet Vander Zwaag, of Sioux Center; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mariah Warntjes; and a brother, Henry G. Vander Zwaag
