Funeral services for Jake Vogelzang,60,of Nipomo, Calif., son of Mrs. Annie Vander Feen of Hawarden, who died unexpectedly March 3, were held at Grover City, Calif., on March 6, with burial there.

Mr. Vogelzang was born five miles east of Hudson in Garfield township November 17, 1901, a son of Frank and Annie Vogelzang. With his parents he moved to Chatsworth in 1921. In 1927 he married Anne M. Wilkins of Chatsworth and some years later moved to Hawarden where he was employed by the Cambier garage as a mechanic. He later entered construction work and during 1954 and 1955 was employed at the Oahe dam at Pierre, SD. In 1955 the family moved to Santa Maria, Calif.,where he wored the past three years as master mechanic with the Wallace Machinery company. They lived in nearby Nipomo at the time of his death.

Survivors include the widow, Anne; a daughter, Marian, Mrs.Donald Hoekette of Redding, Calif.; a son Melvin Frank of Nipomo; jis mother, Mrs. Annie Vander Feen of Hawarden; three brothers Fred Vogelzang of Hudson, Frank Vogelzang of Sioux City and John Vogelzang of Greston, Iowa, and six grandchildren. He was a cousin of Dick Vogelzang of Hawarden.
