DEATH SUMMONS LITTLE GIRL
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Card of Alcester Died Saturday

Doris Card, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Card of Alcester, died about 7 o'clock Saturday morning [Jan. 18] at the Hawarden hospital where she had been a patient since about Christmas, suffering from pneumonia and brain fever [meningitis or encephalitis]. She had appeared to be on the road to recovery from the pneumonia attack when complications developed which caused her death.

Doris was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Card and was not quite 6 years old at the time of her death. She was born in Hawarden but spent most of her life on a farm near Alcester. About a year ago her parents quit farming and have since been living in Alcester. She was a sweet, lovable child and her parents and other relatives have the sincere sympathy of many friends in their great loss.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Alcester Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. B. L. Carlton, pastor of the Big Springs Baptist church. Interment was made in the Alcester cemetery. Relatives and friends from here who attended the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Anderson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Card, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Norberg and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Olson.
