RESIDENT HERE 77 YEARS DIED

Sam Brunskill, 80, a resident of Hawarden 77 years, died Thursday [Feb. 13] at the Panska Nursing home where he lived the past eight years.

About 10 years ago Mr. Brunskill had one leg amputated and two years later he submitted to amputation of his other leg. He got about in a wheel chair. His last illness was of about a month's duration.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Brunskill, he was born January 30, 1878, at Le Mars and came to Hawarden in 1881 at the age of three years. The family located on a farm northeast of Hawarden where he lived until after the death of his father when his brother, John Brunskill, took over the management of the farm.

After leaving the farm Mr. Brunskill worked as a farm hand and engaged in the draying business in Hawarden until he became physically disabled. He was the last member of a family of 10 children.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Barnard Funeral home, Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Burial was at Grace Hill cemetery.
