Roy C. Frazier, for twenty years resident of this community, died last Thursday evening at the Methodist hospital in Sioux City following an operation for a ruptured appendix, which he submitted the night of Feb. 3rd. His condition was regarded critical from the outset and though possessing a rugged constitution, he proved unable to throw off the poison which had permeated his system prior to the operation.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in this city with the pastor Rev. Robt. H. Forrester, in charge. The funeral was very largely attended. There was music by the Male Quartet and two selections by the Chorus Choir, after which Rev. Forrester delivered a comforting message to the assembled relatives and friends. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Roy Crouse Frazier was born in Smullton Center County, PA., August 1, 1888, and died in Sioux City, Iowa Feb. 14, 1929, at the age of 40 years, 6 months and 13 days. He was the eldest son of Ammon and Sarah Frazier, who soon after his birth moved to a farm at Genoa, Ill. In the year 1909 he came to Hudson, S.D. where for three years he was employed on the farm of O. W. Anderberg.

On Feb. 23, 1912, he was united in marriage with Mary Pierson, the second daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Pierson, the wedding taking place in Hawarden. Four children were born to this union, John, a sophomore in the Hawarden high school; Florence aged 13; Francelia, aged 11; and Alma, now 8 years of age. Artis Stiglitz, a niece of Mrs. Frazier, has also been a member of the household for the past year or two. In addition to the wife and children, he is also survived by his father and mother of Genoa, Ill. The father was privileged to reach his son's bedside and have a good visit before he passed away. There is also a brother, John Frazier, residing at Dixon, Ill. and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Frazier farmed near Hudson for some time and in 1918 purchased the farm, six miles northeast of Hawarden, which has been his home since that time. He had a wide circle of friends. He was greatly interested in people and events and for eight years he served as township clerk of Virginia Township. As opportunity afforded, he kept himself informed, keeping an open mind and was always willing to listen to all sides of questions.

Mr. Frazier was a member of the Odd Fellow, Rebekah and Modern Woodmen Lodges and in religious faith he was a Methodist. He was a kind father, a faithful husband, an obliging neighbor, honest in his business dealings, dependable as a citizen and practical in his Christianity.
