Henrietta Maassen
Henrietta "Pat" Maassen of Lynden, Washington ,died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at the age of 80. She was born July 22, 1929, in Hull, Iowa, to Henry and Tina (Kooima) Veldman. Henrietta grew up in Iowa and was married to John H. Maassen on March 17, 1950, in Rock Valley, Iowa. In November of 1969, they moved to Lynden with their family. As a member of Second Christian Reformed Church, she served with
the Dorothea Ladies Society, and for 8 years she and John were janitors. A homemaker at heart, Henrietta enjoyed baking, sewing and reading. Henrietta resided at the Christian Health Care Center.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Veidman, sister, Hermina Van Ginkle; and husband, John in 2001.
Henrietta is survived by her six sons and two daughters: Harlan Maassen of Lynden, Roger Maassen of Ferndale, Stan (Cindy) Maassen of Bellingham, Allen (Laurie) Maassen of Ferndale, Jim (Leah) Maassen of Lynden, Janice (John) Fakkema of Lynden, Joann (Russell) Morin of Everett and Loren (Kathy) Maassen of Wisconsin; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great-grandchiIdren (with a fourth expected in May); Four sisters: Donna Schepel of Rock Valley, Eldora "Pip" (Bud) Hoff of Arizona, Jean (Eugene) Eisma of Inwood, and Gert DeJong of Rock Valley; and numerous other relatives.
