Miss Mary Garn, daughter of Leonard Garn, residing two and a half miles southeast of town, died last Saturday of consumption. The funeral was a large one and was held at the Congregational church in this city. Rev. Ablett officiating. She was a very intelligent and popular young lady and the whole community sympathize with the afflicted friends and relatives.
( According to a family history on Ancestry.com, Leonard Garn was born 1840 in Germany His wife was Jan Birch b. 1845, children George Garn b. 1871, Frank L. Garn 1877-1960, Mary Garn 1877, Carrie Garn 1881. Leonard b. 1838/1840 died 23 Jan 1910 and Jane born 9 Jul 1847 died 9 Feb 1935 both are buried in Nassau Cemtery Alton IA.)
