TED BARTMAN FATALLY INJURED IN FARM ACCIDENT LAST THURSDAY

The community was shocked and saddened once again when word spread Thursday, May 15, of the accidental death of Ted Bartman. The 59-year-old farmed died from internal injuries suffered while making repairs to a stock track. The accident happened at about 2:30 p.m. on the family farm located three miles north and one mile east of Rock Valley.

The Rock Valley Ambulance answered the call for help and Bartman was taken to Hegg Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Services were held Monday at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley with the Rev. Edward Knott officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Ted Bartman was born February 11, 1921, at Rock Valley. He married Nellie Kooima on March 14, 1947, at Rock Valley. He was a board member of the Production Credit Association of Sheldon.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Brent and Todd of Rock Valley; two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Muriel) Arkema of De Motte, Indiana, and Mrs. Bernie (Randa) Cole of San Diego, California, and three grandchildren.

Also two brothers, Peter and Herbert both of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and three sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Harriet) Block of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Gerrit D. (Betty) Van Maanen of Doon and Mrs. Arthur (Theresa) Kooima of Rock Valley.
